What will I learn?: This short course covers Unit 101 from Signature’s Level 1 Award in British Sign Language. The course is delivered 2 hours a week over a 12-week period, and this includes 20 hours’ teaching time with 4 hours reserved for catch-up and revision with the support of our amazing, experienced BSL teachers. We will cover basic vocabulary in BSL, including meeting and greeting, numbers, weather, transport and directions.
Please note that while the course tuition is free, funded by the MAES, learners will be required to pay their own exam fee for Unit 101, which is charged by Signature. The current exam fee is £20 (as of this writing), though it may be subject to a small increase in 2025. Taking the exam is optional for students.
